For a few days during Spring Break, we went to stay in my in-laws cabin in Mentone, Alabama. It was so beautiful there. The weather wasn't very nice, but we had a lot of fun. Jake had just had a bout with the flu, so I was nervous about the rest of us catching it, but no one did, and we had a great time.We are glad that Papa put up this railing so we don't have to worry about the kids falling off a cliff!
On the way down the mountain, there was an old still, that had been busted up by the proper authorities. I thought it was neat so I took some pics.
During our Spring Break getaway, we stopped by Desoto Falls. It was near the cabin where we stayed. It was very beautiful, and cold I might add! There was also a ski resort nearby, although it wasn't much of one. There were only two skiers there!
After we left the cabin, we decided to drive on to Chattanooga. It is a short forty minute drive. We got a great rate to stay in a train car at the Chattanooga Choo Choo. I was expecting a musty, damp, old car and it was definitely that and more. The walls are extremely thin, and we heard a baby crying from three o'clock until sunrise. The kids slept soundly, but Jay and I were miserable. The people in the train car behind us were fed up too. By 6 a.m, they were screaming at each other and telling their baby to "shut up." The Choo-Choo offered us another night's stay free of charge, but that was enough for me! However, the children absolutely loved it and I guess that's all that matters.
The next morning we had a pleasant experience for breakfast. I do recommend Aretha Frankensteins . It is in an old house and they only seat a bar and four tables, but it was delicious!
